Kyoshi Beaumont studied many systems of martial arts until he found what he was looking for in Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu , which he has taught in the hombu dojo in Athlone for over 20 years. Matsubayash Shorin Ryu is a traditional Okinawan Style which specialises in in close fighting , and practical self defence techniques. Sensei Beaumont met Sensei Philip Koeppel in 1994, after Sensei Koeppel 8th Dan Matsumura Seito travelled to Ireland. Since then Mr Beaumont and a team from Ireland have made annual trips to Peoria, Illinois for the U.S.K.K grand nationals , and Sensei Koeppel, has also travelled to Ireland annually.
Through the efforts of both Sensei Beaumont and Sensei Koeppel thay succeeded in bringing Master Takayoshi Nagamine (head of Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu) ti Ireland in 1996, he was the first Okinawan master to travel to Ireland.
Sensei Beaumont is the European Director for the USKK and has clubs in Ireland and England, where he is a senior instructor for NAKMAS.
